Art is our passion and at the heart of our business model, but money makes the business world go round. It’s easy as an artist or a lover of art in all its different forms to get caught up in the art alone, then suffer because you can’t afford to live.

That’s why this time around whilst rebranding United80 we wanted to ensure the art business is at the heart of what we do. This way we focus on only working with the best talent we find, knowing that the love we have for the work they produce, will inspire us to come up with new ideas and concepts to get the product/art out there to the client. It’s also imperative to ensure it makes money. We don’t want to endorse the “broke artist” mentality, we want to let artists know they can truly make a career out of what they do independently and live as a full time working artist.

We hope to inspire artists to not give up on what they are doing, to reach their desired goals at every step in their journey. The “broke artist” is of course not a myth and every artist has to go through the fire of poverty at at least one stage in their career but with collaboration, we hope to ease that blow.

Part of our new model is our consultation services, where we work closely with brands and artists to show them how to stay true to their art and not feel ashamed, conceited or afraid to think big numbers when it comes to their work and goals. We understand now that if we want to have longevity as our business concept, we have to keep on forging new relationships with dynamic artists that have the capacity to create ongoing revenue.

At United80, we learned the hard way how the humble ego can work against you under the guise of modesty. These things hand in hand in the end create catastrophe when you don’t feel worthy of your skills. Throw the ego aside, deal with facts and track record and the universe will handle the rest.

We have seen our business transform in the last 12 months. The facts are we love art and feel it can change and does change the world we live in for the better (yes that is a fact. Lol!). We have been in business for nearly 9 years not by accident. There has to be a certain level of positive track record to make that happen. And we have proven that collaboration and building strong relationships with our clients and Patrons have been paramount in weathering the storm of small business.

We understand now that if we want to have longevity as our business concept, we have to keep on forging new relationships with dynamic artists that have the capacity to create ongoing revenue.

So we have worked with the likes of Jazz Re:freshed, whose stellar track record goes back 15 years, showcasing amazing underground talent on a weekly basis as well as now putting on an annual jazz festival, which we have been honoured to work with them on. We have worked with amazing dynamic artists and designers like Joy Miessi, Chill Create, Brooklyn Dolly and 2000black , bringing fresh flavour to our client and boosting revenue in the process. Long live the collaborator!
